It has been a terrible winter for cold and flus. I try to keep my family healthy especially in winter with the use of food and essential oils. For the last two years I have relied on DoTerra Essential Oils to keep cold and flu at bay. I also heavily rely on the use of foods like ginger, turmeric, manuka honey, apple cider vinegar and kefir yoghurt to keep us going strong. With 4 young children it is vital to try and prevent sickness taking us down.
This winter I have been taking a small shot of a apple cider vinegar tonic and here is the recipe.
Ingredients
- 5g ginger
- 5g turmeric
- 5-10g lemon
- 5g manua honey
- 150g raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar
Method
- Add ginger and turmeric to a blender or Thermomix and blend. (TM blend speed 8, 5 seconds and scrape down the sides of the bowl).
- Add remaining ingredients and blend on high for 30 seconds. (TM Blend speed 9 for 10 secs, then turn to speed 10 for another 10 seconds.
- Decanter into a sterilized glass bottle.
Shake well before taking. Have a small shot each day or take if you have a sore throat. You can dilute 15ml in a glass of water or add a dash to a smoothie to the Turmeric Tonic.
Please note I am no doctor this is just me using food as a preventive to getting sick.
